Bagh-e-Zanana: the womens' park in Kabul. Founded more than 80 years
ago, it was
for many years a popular spot for women only. During the more liberal
years from the
1960s onwards, the park was less and less visited because less necessary.
Under the
Taliban regime it was of course closed because women were banned from
public life.
Recently, aid agencies funded its rehabilitation, but many women are
still reserved to visit it
