War Child Netherlands 2001

Every year War Child Netherlands participates in the organization of the Liberation Festivals on May 5. In 2001 War Child focussed the day's theme on "Music as an instrument against Fear". Music plays a central role in the work of War Child projects worldwide.
Singers Trijntje Oosterhuis and Joseph Bangura (from Sierra Leone) performed for War Child at various festival locations throughout The Netherlands. They were supported by children's

choirs. They paid attention to the situation of children in Sierra Leone, being victims of war and violence, frequently as child soldiers. War Child Netherlands had just started an aid programme for these children.
