Tibet Support Group Netherlands 2001-2004

Annual worldwide demonstration day, March 10 - International Day of Human Rights, December 10

On March 1959 Tibetans revolted solidly when the rumour went round that the Chinese army leadership wanted to arrest the Dalai Lama. Around 430.000 Tibetans died during this revolt (the Chinese estimate only 87.000). Hundreds of thousands of Tibetans fled with the Daila Lama to India. Every year this revolt and the continuing Chinese occupation of Tibet, is commemorated on March 10, with demonstrations around the world.

Moreover, every year on December 10, the Tibet Support Group campaigns as part of the International Day of Human Rights
